AI game

This is very clever: 20q.net:
This is an experiment in Artificial Intelligence. The program is very simple but its behavior is complex. Everything that it knows and all questions that it asks were entered by people playing the Game. Twenty Questions is a learning system; the more it is played, the better it gets.

Broadband 4 Britain

Those of you in the UK should take a minute to go and sign the petition at Broadband 4 Britain which calls for the government to get its act together as regards broadband Internet access. The site aims to collect 1 million names by Christmas. Go on, it only takes a moment…

Rob’s little accident

Oh dear, Rob had a little accident at the weekend. Strictly speaking he had two accidents, but he only mentions the second one on his web site. In fact he tells a fib. Fleece? No Cortina, you mean dry pair of trousers, don’t you, mate? ;) Anyway, here’s a link for Rob.
Right, I’m off to [...]

I am Wormtongue! (the ladies already know this)

If I were a character in Lord of the Rings, I would be Wormtongue, Man of Rohan, the chief counselor of Theoden.

In the movie, I am played by Brad Dourif.
Who would you be? Take theZovakware Lord of the Rings Test to find out.

Culture and Guinness

Been a little too busy to add anything here recently. Felt utterly vile all day Sunday, thanks to a very enjoyable Saturday night in Soho (one of those evenings where spoken communication with the barman becomes unnecessary — a mere 5 degree movement of the head being all that was required to indicate that more [...]

Methods of Transport

Dear Santa,For Christmas this year I would like the new Aston Martin.Best wishes,David
On the theme of fun toys… What would you do if you were on a plane and suddenly the pilot and co-pilot were rendered unconscious by some mystery illness? The hysterical stewardess bursts into the passenger cabin screaming ‘Does anybody know how to [...]

Harry Potter is Evil!

Having visited the ChildCare Action Project (CAP): Christian Analysis of American Culture site, I have now decided that I definitely won’t be going to see the Harry Potter film. CAP is:
dedicated to investigating and reporting on the impact of the American culture on the integrity, self respect, and coping skills of youth, and inherently on [...]

Northern Alliance takes Kabul

Now that the Northern Alliance has taken Kabul. Mass Beard-shaving, music-playing, and kite-flying ensues, will we be seeing a late entry into Miss World competition from Miss Afghanistan? I mean, surely it’s about time these poor oppressed women were treated to some western culture and freedom? But then again, as one BBC correspondent put it, [...]

I like animals — especially horses and dolphins

Okay, far too lazy busy to pop anything up here for a while, but felt inspired to put digits to keyboard after watching the Miss World competition semi-final on TV last night. How can a programme manage to be quite so laughably vacuous? It was quite compulsive in its awfulness and lack of irony. If [...]

Guinness v Fireworks, Bed v Footie

With a view to watching a spectacular fireworks fest, met up at the Toucan at 7pm on Saturday. Rather predictably though, we didn’t stagger out of there until closing time, completely missing the display. Oh well, seen one firework display, seen them all — whereas each pint of Guinness is a truly unique experience.
Had to [...]
