Knackered New Year
I’m finally back in London — got back Thursday night — and haven’t stopped since. Work is indeed a four letter word. But I had an ace time in Cardiff, largely thanks to the wonderful hospitality of Troy Boy. Since my last entry, I came down with a horrible, stinking cold — but carried on partying like the brave little soldier I am.
Sunday (30th) evening was spent at Dominic’s mum’s house in Penarth — Dom was back from Toronto for Christmas, and bunch of us celebrated his birthday by drinking an unhealthy selection of his cocktails, before retiring to the pub. Very good to see Dom and several other old faces. Also bumped into Lucie, an old housemate, which was fantastic and unexpected, as I haven’t seen her for about five years. She looked incredibly well and happy, which is cool.
On Monday Si and I felt like death, but eventually found the strength to trot into town so he could buy me my Xmas pressie — Mario Kart Super Circuit for my Game Boy Advance. That evening, Pete, Si and I celebrated New Year’s Eve at Incognito, a bar in Cardiff. Fairly low-key but enjoyable nevertheless, probably connected to the vast range of cocktails and spirits we consumed. All a bit vague after about 10pm.
New Year’s Day was the first alcohol-free day in about two weeks, and consisted mainly of food, TV and computer games. I think. The days and weeks are starting to merge together at this point. I was planning to return to London on the 2nd, but couldn’t be arsed in the end, so put it off until Thursday.
So there you have it, my “What I Did During the Holidays” essay is complete. Probably missed loads out, but I’m sure Si will point out any glaring ommissions. Big, big thanks for putting me up/putting up with me at Chez Rent is Due, Si.
Finally, Christmas pressie highlights (thanks y’all) included:
