Unclean! Unclean!

I joined Simon at Liz & Axel’s place in Wimbledon for a meal last night. It was the first time Si and I had seen Liz & Axel’s 8-month old baby boy, who was absolutely gorgeous and very entertaining. After the baby had been put to bed, we had enormous, fabulously tasty Argentinian steaks and plenty more red wine (Simon was already quite drunk when I arrived at about 7pm; by 8 he was slurring his words; by 9 he was ranting on about the evils of the monarchy; by 10 he’d fallen asleep at the table).

Felt rather grim when I got up this morning, but playing with baby provided a gentle way to recover, before Liz dropped me and Simon off at the station at lunchtime. Once back here, Si and I popped into the Blue Mountain Cafe for a bite to eat and some much-needed fruit juice. Simon, who had had a nasty rash on his neck for a few days, found that the rash had spread to his wrist during the night, and so decided to seek medical attention. Firstly he tried Accident & Emergency — a nurse diagnosed it as Impetigo, but told him it would be six hours before he’d be able to get a prescription from the doctor. Instead, he suggested Si try the walk-in clinic in Soho instead. After a coffee and a couple of rounds of golf, we headed up to Soho and after an hour and a half, Simon got to see a doctor and got some prescription cream for his disease. It was a lovely warm sunny evening, so we had a quick beer outside the French House, before Si headed off to Paddington to catch a train home.
