Burt and the Albino
Just watched a Burt Lancaster tribute programme on telly. And which of his great films are the BBC showing to accompany it? The Cassandra Crossing. Hmmm… Anyway, today had to be the hottest, sunniest day of the year so far, and I took things at a suitably sedate pace. The highlight of my day was definitely seeing an albino bloke on the bus. He was clearly of Afro-Caribbean origin, so his white skin and ‘black’ facial features made for a really striking combination. Naturally, being a small-minded bigot, I shouted to everyone on the bus that “He doesn’t look like us — he’s an outsider!” and promptly organised a stoning.*
* Of course this is a complete lie — I just glanced at him discretely and then continued reading my book in silence. No offence to albinos intended — this guy actually looked pretty cool.
