A good day despite the footie

Whatever happened to traditional rivalry between local football clubs? Spurs, who are certain to finish the season in the middle of the Premiership, were playing Liverpool yesterday. If Liverpool won the game, they had a real chance of preventing Spurs’ arch rivals Arsenal from taking the title. But no, Spurs decided to beat Liverpool 1-0, and now Arsenal are almost certain to finish top. Disgraceful.

I went out with Neil, Nichie, Seymour, Fiona, Alison and Phil last night, and I’m feeling rather grim now as a result. We had a meal and some drinks at Studio Six, Gabriel’s Wharf, then strolled along the river to a pub by the Tate Modern. A very enjoyable night, but I’m suffering now.

Just spoken to my mum, and apparently she also went out for a meal with some friends last night, at the eccentric Sarastro Restaurant on Drury Lane. When they arrived, they were greeted by the owner, who said, “Oh, five ladies… But you are early, your table is not ready, you must come with me!”. My mum and her four friends followed the guy through a door at the back of the restaurant, along several corridors, and eventually found themselves out on the street. “I will come and get you when your table is ready,” said the owner, who asked them to wait in the back of his Rolls Royce. So my mum and her friends sat in the back of this Roller, drinking complimentary Champagne, until the waiter came to say their table was ready!
