The Proxomitron
The Proxomitron – Universal Web Filter looks like an interesting bit of Windows freeware. Among other things, it allows you to: remove layers, tables and style sheets, stop web pages and ads from “auto-refreshing”, unhide URLs obscured by status line text, kill most advertising banners, add your own scripts to pages, stop or limit pop-up windows, and view/tinker with HTTP Headers. It’s about a 1 meg download, and doesn’t require installation — just tell your browser to use it as a proxy. Disclaimer: I haven’t tried it yet, but it looks promising.
