Just what the world needs, another blog by a web designer

Someone finally notices what Bill is up to…

Just watched the Channel 4 News, which included a piece on Microsoft’s Palladium. I think that this is the first time I’ve seen any mention of the whole ‘Trusted Computing’/Digital Rights Management/MS megalomania plans in the mainstream, non-Geek news. Hopefully we’ll see more coverage elsewhere, as this is such an important issue — it effectively means every personal computer and web site will have to be running a Microsoft operating system. And personally, I don’t want a company with such a poor track record when it comes to privacy, security and monopolising things to be able to decide what I can do with a simple text file on my computer — let alone my tax returns, shopping habits and medical records (the likely net result given the UK Government’s cosy relationship with MS). For more info on, see the stuff I wrote about Palladium back in July.
