Another triumph for US law enforcement
The FBI have admitted that Derek Bond is not the ‘America’s Most Wanted’ criminal they thought he was. Shame the 72 year old man from Bristol, on a wine-tasting holiday in South Africa with his wife, had to spend nearly three weeks behind bars before they’d accept that it was a case of mistaken identity. A man believed to be the real suspect was arrested in Las Vegas last night. Apparently the British supporters out in South Africa for the cricket World Cup have been heard singing ‘There’s only one Derek Bond…’!
Another person on the FBI’s most wanted list, James ‘Whitey’ Bulger, a gangster and ‘master of disguise’, was recently sighted in Piccadilly, London. If you think you see him, you might want to back away slowly, as he’s wanted for 18 murders (but there is a £636,000 reward…). The Mini Mail has an updated picture of Bulger and adds:
In an amasing twist, [a] former friend contacted police after recognising Bulger from an FBI ‘Most Wanted’ poster featured on the Anthony Hopkins film Hannibal.
Small world, innit?
