Feeling less serious tonight

The other day I said that I could see that the war reporting had the makings of a good drinking game; seems I wasn’t the only one to think that: Gulf War Drinking Game.

Elsewhere, an American guy called Micah Wright has been taking old propoganda posters from the 1940s and subverting them with anti-war messages. He’s created absolutely loads, and has put them online at The Propoganda Remix Project. Very well done, and very funny — here are just a small selection:

Daddy, why don't you or your friends from Enron have to go to war?Hey you, stop asking questions or we'll permanently detain youHatred, suspicion, war - these are the tools we need to defeat terrorismWe're on our way - we want that oil! Thanks corporate news! We couldn't control the people without youYou shut your mouth! We'll bomb who we want!

A book of the posters is coming out soon, with permission to photocopy the pictures for anti-war protests (and you can get them on tshirts, mugs etc. too). Micah Wright’s personal site is also worth checking out — he seems like a very interesting and intelligent chap, having written for film, television, videogames and comic books.
