Shopping for primitive outtakes
A few interesting links today, all courtesy of Mike’s List:
- If subjects such as steam-bending wood, tanning a fox hide, fletching (not feltching) by hand, using a bamboo rice cooker, the fire-by-friction methods of the Australian Aborigines, and fishing with poisons interest you, then (a) you’re probably Pat, and (b) you’re sure to enjoy Primitive Ways, a site about Stone Age technology, traditional skills, and hand-made tools.
- Kate Bingaman is either barking mad or a complete genius; for over a year she’s been photographing everything—and I mean everything—she buys, and putting it online at her site, Obsessive Consumption. Well, marketers and advertisers are always trying to convince us that we are what we buy, so I guess Kate’s just taking this defined-by-our-purchases ethos to its logical conclusion.
- Finally, who doesn’t enjoy laughing at celebs? Here are a few funny outtakes at Fade to Black, including a selection of Shatner greats.
