The Gender Genie
Paste or type some text (500+ words) into the Gender Genie and apparently it has an 80% chance of calculating the writer’s gender, based on the words they’ve used. I pasted in a few recent entries from WoB and, sure enough, it deduced that I am indeed all Hemmingway. Clever. Actually, I guess it could just be a complete load of bollocks, and always say male, with a 50-50 chance of being right. And given that there are probably considerably more male Internet users than female, it’s probably more like a 65% chance. But I trust them (you can actually find out more at nature.com, or see the algorithm behind it).
