Novelty Farting Dog of Terror

I’ve just realised I haven’t posted anything here for yonks, not even on Concorde’s last day (I was lucky enough to see it fly over here on its way into Heathrow). Not that I’ve really done much aside from work on an e-commerce project and drink wine for the last few weeks anyway, which doesn’t really make for very interesting reading.

Me and Troy

Dee did send me this charming picture of me (baglady) and Troy arriving at Dan &amp Dee’s wedding reception, which I thought might amuse Si if he’s got access to t’interweb down in Oz. Apparently Troy was spotted (and heard) on the TV coverage of the Rugby World Cup too, lurking in the backround during an interview–doubtless muttering about the Welsh team selection…

I guess the least I can do is post a few amusing links now I’ve got my arse in gear: TV Party (an event or a political group?) has some video clips of cigarette commercials and tobacco-sponsored TV shows from the 1940s–60s, including a clip of Fred Flintstone enjoying a cigarette. And moving on to more contemporary cartoons, this week it was alledged that Murdoch-owned Fox News threatened to sue The Simpsons over an episode featuring a parody of the channel’s news ticker which read:

Pointless news crawls up 37 per cent … Do Democrats cause cancer? Find out at foxnews.com … Rupert Murdoch: Terrific dancer … Dow down 5000 points … Study: 92 per cent of Democrats are gay … JFK posthumously joins Republican Party … Oil slicks found to keep seals young, supple…

And speaking of Springfield, did you know that there’s a WWII bomb 20 yards south of Springfield Road in Hayes? If you want to know where London’s unexploded bombs are buried, the disturbingly-named ContaminatedLand.co.uk has compiled a list, which includes a bomb at Wimbledon sewage works. Could be very unpleasant.

But my favourite funny story of late has to be the wonderful Novelty farting dog sparks US terror alert.
