Health and Safety Compliance scam

First it was the Data Protection Registration scam and now it’s the Health and Safety Compliance scam; an official-looking letter arrived today from a bunch calling themselves the Health and Safety Registration Enforcement Division (HSRED) demanding £249 to ensure compliance with health and safety law.

A quick Google reveals that they’re one of three firms sending out similar scam letters—the other two being the Health and Safety Enforcement Agency (HSEA) (who want £125) and the Health and Safety Compliance Agency (HSCA) (asking for a mere £129.95).

Like the similar Data Protection Registration con letters which arrived a few months ago, the HSRED also use an address in Rochdale, and want cheques made payable to “Registration Fee”. Which suggests that the same bunch of scumbags are behind both scams. (yes, I have complained before). Can’t Trading Standards or the police do something to bring them to justice? Preferably some US-style justice.
