Tough on spam, tough on the causes of spam

To try and reduce the amount of comment spam that slips in here under the radar, I’ve launched a draconian, Blunkett-style crackdown by marking older entries closed to new comments. Of course comments will still be welcomed on recent posts.

Team Hopkins replay

Especially for Mr Hopkins, here’s a link to the entry with the artist’s recreation of his moment of near glory on the race track. Over a year later and the bitter injustice is still eating away at him…

Humiliated, Angry, Ashamed, Brown

Here’s a long-ish account demonstrating why you shouldn’t take photos of US landmarks if you’ve got brown skin.

Bush gives protesters the finger

This story definitely rates an 11 on the coolness scale – I got flipped off by George W. Bush. A few guys went out to protest when the Bush campaign rolled into their town: At the front of this second bus was The W himself, waving cheerily at his supporters on the other side of [...]

Rock, paper, Saddam

Time to post this gem, now its bandwidth problems seem to be sorted: Rock, Paper, Saddam!. It’s good to laugh out loud, which is what I did when I saw it.

World of Pervert Magnet

Decided it was finally time to spend a bit of time on World of Badger, and started by assimilating some of the loose standalone pages from various directories into the b2evolution database. Makes things a little less messy on the server. And, displaying uncharacteristic attention to detail, I even set up 301 Redirect permanents for [...]

Cory Doctorow’s Digital Rights Management talk

Last month Cory Doctorow gave a talk to Microsoft’s Research Group, trying to convince them that Digital Rights Management systems don’t work, and are bad for society, business and artists. You can read the transcript at dashes. Let’s hope it didn’t fall on deaf ears. Right, I’m off down the pub…

East Dulwich unofficial film club chilli night

Although Thursday night usually means chilli night, I got confused and had a tuna salad (slimline Badger) at 6pm this evening. This was upsetting enough on its own, but then I discovered that chilli night had been transformed into succulent steak night. At least I was able to participate in the other parts of the [...]

Log Flume of Hearts and other London thrills

Just got in after watching the unveiling of the new £3.6m Diana memorial fountain this evening. Unfortunately the start of the ceremony was delayed by 45 minutes due to the massive crowds of onlookers whose numbers have been estimated at up to 500,000 people. No, hang on, I’ve got that wrong… it was the Formula [...]

An Offer He Couldn’t Refuse

I know it’s been ages since my last post, and I would have written something before now, but what with campaigning for UKIP* and then partying in Albufeira**, I’ve hardly had a minute to spare…. Still, it’s time to get back to posting regularly again, and of course I can’t let the death of one [...]
