moving towards the light

As a result of my iDilemma, I’ve been scouring the web for good comparisons of the various Mac and PC options, and found these articles over at Anandtech very helpful in convincing me to go with a Mac: A Month with a Mac: A Die-Hard PC User’s Perspective and A Month with a Mac - [...]

Badger in 2025

We’ve got loads of work on at the moment, hence the patchy updates. However there’s always time to mention sites of the calibre of Men Who Look Like Kenny Rogers, which pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin. Rather like looking into the future for me I suspect…

iDilemma

I’m thinking about getting a new Mac, and I also need a laptop. The obvious answer would be to get an Apple laptop I suppose, but I’m distinctly underwhelmed by their offerings.
The iBook is over-priced and under-specced: the cheapest model is 700 notes and comes with a 12″ screen and a 30 gig hard drive. [...]

Block referrer spam with mod_rewrite

Dave Child over at I Love Jack Daniels has written about his techniques for blocking referrer spam on his blog. He’s kindly posted some rewrite rules for blocking the most common spam crawlers. C’mon, a fancy dress party with a theme of “colonial and [...]

Priorities - killing versus helping

George Monbiot has calculated that the money pledged for the tsunami disaster by the British government is the equivalent of what they spend in five and a half days on the Iraq war. For the US, their donation equates to one and a half days spending on the war.

washed up charidee

As if the earthquake and tsunami hadn’t caused enough suffering already, now Cliff Richard, Boy George and a handful of other has-beens have decided to record a charideee record written by Smashie-turned-failed-musical-producer Mike Read.
The song, titled Grief Never Grows Old and described as a melancholy ballad, was written by radio DJ Mike Read.
Former Boyzone singer [...]

Happier New Year

Doesn’t quite seem appropriate to whitter on about my take on 2004, or about what a chilled Christmas I had, when so many people are having such a terrible time because of the tsunami… maybe I will shortly, but for the time being I just want to say I hope 2005 is good to you [...]
