It's never wise to bottle up these creative urges I grant you. Just a shame that our clients can't free themselves from the constraints of what society considers tasteful, beautiful and not crap.

I was expecting there to be a simple solution out there - possibly involving GD or imagemagick - but having done a fair bit of googling, I've not found anything helpful at all. Converting an image to SWF on the server is straight forward, but I haven't come across any way to send the vector bits n bobs from the SWF to PHP. The Flash drawings will be fairly complex, and lots of them, so entering the vector co-ordinates by hand is out of the question. Thanks for the suggestion though - any more pointers gratefully received....
And thanks for pointing me in the direction of tigerlaunch. I installed it this morning based on your recommendation, and it's proving very handy.

RE your flash problem, I'm not a flash expert but the solution is quite simple. You need to post the vector bits n bobs to a php file that will draw the png with imagemagik or GD based on what is passed to it.

Have you got tigerlaunch running on your Mac yet? I found it a few weeks back and it's ace, it gives you access to ALL the apps in your Applications directory from a drop down menu up by the clock/airport icons.

see here: http://ranchero.com/tigerlaunch/
