Strobe firing in my face

I needed to get a few photos last night, so I got out my camera and set up my Nikon SB800 strobe on a tripod. I was just fitting a CTO gel to the flash when my girlfriend thought it would fun to take a photo of me at work. Unfortunately, what she didn’t realise was that my camera was in commander mode, which meant that it triggered the flash as I was staring directly at it from about a foot away! Yes, I did swear, and yes, I did have green rectangles in my eyes for some time after.
