Jon, I completely agree that Miami Vice is the benchmark for the fashionable gentleman in warmer climes. And, as the creative professional of the group, I am happy to offer my services as the fashion consultant/coordinator for the wedding. I hope I haven't jumped the gun, but I've already got a pretty good idea of the 'look' that would best suit both you and Simon.

Sadly I think your old red leather jacket may be a little too warm for that time of year; I've also ruled out the formal look (Exhibit 1), as it could make some of the guests feel a little under-dressed. So I think a combination of t-shirt or half-button collarless shirt and casual jacket, teamed with loose-fitting pants, would be best.
With the jacket there are two options - the short-cut, fitted style (Exhibit 2), or the blouson-style (Exhibit 3). The latter is probably better for covering up the belly.
Sleeves can be rolled up to reveal a hint of the satin lining if it's particularly hot. The jacket and pants should probably be in pale, neutral colours, and I'm thinking a pastel shade - probably pink - for the t-shirt.
For the finishing touches, I think white slip-ons and no socks, as a daring flash of ankle should help to get Susan in the mood for your first night of passion together. The combined look is, I'm sure you'll agree, pretty damn cool (Exhibit 4).
Am I right in saying you've started growing the hair for the swept-back mullet (as seen in Exhibit 5 with more formal attire)?

In some ways, deciding on your look was more challenging than picking one for Jon; clearly you don't want to upstage Jon, but at the same time you want to project your ice-cool, streetwise personality. Therefore I suggest that contrast is the key here - a sharp suit and tie to complement Jon's looser more casual look (Exhibit 6).
Initially I was considering a bold, patterned suit (Exhibit 7), but then I thought, hey, you don't put ketchup on a tender fillet steak! So now I'm torn between a powder blue suit with light shirt (Exhibit 8), or a grey suite interwoven with a metalic thread to give it a nice sheen, teamed with a black shirt (Exhibit 9).

Either way, socks should be worn, with white lace-up shoes (Exhibit 10). I also think you should consider growing the full beard (Exhibit 11).

Accessorizing is important, and on this occassion, I think we can push the boat out little (Exhibit 12).

There's no reason that informal has to mean unstylish. After the ceremony, I suggest you both change down into something more relaxed, such as loose pants and t-shirts - again, pastel shades are key to the look's success (Exhibit 13).

As for me, I'll be drawing fashion inspiration from elsewhere. For the wedding:
